1984. Cross yard. Essay. Orwell D., Task S.E., Doronina I.Ya.
The novel “1984” is a literary sentence to the most terrible experience of the twentieth century, the study of the technology and psychology of totalitarianism with all its sophisticated techniques intended to suppress dissent, to grind the human person and turn the individual into a screw of the state mechanism. This is the “general rehearsal” of hell, its convincing earthly version, where “war is the world. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is power. ”
The novel“ Cross Courtyard ”, telling about the inhabitants of the farm, closed Mirk with his commandments and orders, also unfolds into a political satire. Animals here adopt the most disgusting vices of people, first of all, the desire for power, and the farm itself becomes a symbol of a merciless totalitarian society.
The collection also presented an essay of different years - “Literature and totalitarianism”, “Writers and Leviathan” , “Notes on nationalism” and others, where Orwell raises the most acute problems of political and cultural life, relevant to this day.
