When the January night of 1703 Forty former samurai in the service of Daimo Asano Naganori burst into the territory of the estate of the palace manager Kira Yosinaki, they least thought that their deed would become one of the elements that make up the world idea of traditional Japanese culture. However, subsequent events turned in this way, and Ronin was only fifty years old to turn from forty -five (or forty -six) historical raiders to the Edit manor in the legendary “forty -right samurai from AKO”...

Ronins from Ako were not an example to follow the Samurai estate, but were models by which people from other classes evaluated samurai. It is about this, as well as the difference between history and the legend, in our publication. The visual series consists of Japanese xylographs of Ukiyo-e on the legendary events related to the plots of “righteous samurai from AKO” in the theater and oral legends-codan.

Many of the sheets presented in the publication are either rare, or have never been published at all before.
