Jorge Louis Borges is one of the most popular writers of the twentieth century, which largely determined the appearance of modern literature. His tendency to all kinds of anthologies, encyclopedias and bestiarias is known. “This is mysterious love for everything that exists without us,” he wrote in the poem “When buying an encyclopedia.” In 1950, Borges co -authored with Margarita Herrero released the “Textbook on Fantastic Zoology”, which, after repeated additions, gained its final embodiment under the name “Book of Fictional Beings”. The reader will find here many strange, amazing creatures that came from the pages of ancient books and born in the imagination of poets and philosophers, including Borges himself. At the same time, the book is built in the author’s favorite style, when the border between poetry and prose, fiction and reality thinns and disappears, leaving the reader face to face with genuine literature. The real edition included the most complete version of the “Book of Fictional Beings”, prepared by Borges in English in 1974 and served as a source of inspiration for many writers, poets and artists.
