About democracy in America. Tokvil A., de
Alexis de Tokville (1805–1859) - French statesman, Minister of Foreign Affairs of France (1849), political thinker, historian and lawyer. In his activities, Tokville developed the ideas of classical liberalism by John Locke, which implied the equality of the capabilities of every citizen. His essay “On Democracy in America” considers the question of the correlation of concepts such as freedom, equality and democracy. According to the author, the ideal of the state structure is observed in those countries where the authorities creates conditions for the comprehensive development of society and does not regulate all the parties to his life without exception. Most of all, the United States of America corresponded to the described ideal, on the example of which the political scientist, following the agenda, illustrated the main aspects of the democratic state structure.
