About love for God and neighbor
Saint Tikhon Zadonsky is unlikely to be represented by the Orthodox reader. The name of this saint is probably familiar to every church man, and his creations were read out during his lifetime. Their very first edition dates from the year of the death of their author, and since then they have been reprinted many times. “The simplicity of the creations of St. Tikhon, their clarity, a living sense of piety, accessibility for general understanding and deep edification made them their favorite works of all classes of great Russia,” says Schiarchimandrite John (Maslov), the compiler of the “symphony” according to the works of St. Tikhon. We offer a pious reader a collection of chosen words of St. Tikhon “On Love for God and Near” in the hope that they will bring spiritual benefit to everyone who touched the work of this amazing saint.
