Ginkmar (806-882) went down in history as one of the most striking and educated representatives of the late Carolingian Renaissance. For a long time, he was the Archbishop of Reims, close to the court of Emperor Louis I pious (814-840), then became the most influential adviser to his son-Karl Lysy (843-877). Ginkmaru owns many works of the theological, legal, historical and hagiographic nature.
among them is a small essay, known as “On the Palace Management” (de Ordine Palatii). This letter, which Ginkmar addressed the bishops and magnates of the kingdom for the sake of the instruction of King Carloman. The appearance of De Oordine is no coincidence. Ginkmar lived in an era when a single Frankish empire, created by Charles the Great, broke up in his eyes. While at the epicenter of political events, the archbishop probably believed that he was given the opportunity to indicate the path to the young king to get out of the current crisis.
