Niccolo Machiavelli is one of the most famous Italian thinkers and politicians of the Renaissance (held the post of state secretary in Florence), a writer, historian, military theorist who created a number of historical and political works (“Reasoning about the first decade of Titus Libya”, “ History of Florence "). The most significant and ambiguous work was the treatise "Sovereign". For many years, this book was associated with the policy of poison and dagger, and after its release the term “Machiavellism” appeared, denoting cynicism, permissiveness, duplicity in politics.

The real edition introduces the reader to the Machiavelli treatise “On Military Art”, standing on a par with the greatest works on military theory. It is here for the first time that ideas sound, the importance of which for the subsequent history of the Western world is difficult to overestimate and which are supported by many examples of great victories and defeats of antiquity. The treatise "On Military Art" is presented in a new translation and is accompanied by an article and detailed notes.
