About modern poetry. Mazzoni G.
For two centuries (ser. XVIII - ser. XX centuries), Western poetry undergoes a radical transformation. Poets gain unprecedented freedom: they begin to write the texts deliberately dark in meaning, violate the rules of meter and syntax, update vocabulary, eliminate the distance between their own person and the lyrical hero.
In his book, the historian and theorist of literature Gvido Mazzoni reconstructs the key stages of this metamorphosis and interprets it as a symptom of deep historical changes. Turning to the poetic texts of the new and modern times, belonging to the Italian and, wider, European tradition, the author is looking for answers to a number of questions, including one of the most important: how did poetry become the most self -centered genre of modernity literature?
Gvido Mazzoni (born 1967) - Professor of the University of Siena (Italy).
