The monograph is devoted to the problems of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS): its definition and modern classification. The main focus is paid to the so -called High -Great ARDS, risk factors for its development, pathogenesis mechanisms, leading to resistant hypoxemia, morphological changes in the lungs. The role of disseminated microelctasium of the alveoli as one of the main causes of arterial hypoxemia is emphasized. Data on the diagnosis of the ARDS, its clinical manifestations are given, depending on the stage of the process, radiological semiotics and laboratory tests.
