Following the revolution and the Civil War in the European part of Russia, the struggle for Soviet power and in Turkestan, Bukhara, Kokanda aggravated. Despite the recognition of the Soviet Republic of Kabul, the border areas of Afghanistan became a refuge for the Basmachi, who, receiving money and weapons from England, repaired robbery on the territory of young Soviet republics. Moreover, British agents did everything to quarrel Afghanistan and Soviet Russia by any means. They were opposed by only a few OGPU residency. Thanks to the information produced by the Chekists, a number of counter -revolutionary conspiracies prepared and paid by the British were opened. Employees of the OGPU made a considerable contribution to the fight against Basmachis and maintaining good neighborly relations of Soviet Russia and Afghanistan.
