Mark Twain (1835-1910)-the pseudonym of the American writer and public figure Samuel Langhorn Clemens. Ernst Hemingway believed that Twain was the ancestor of modern American literature. The most popular works for schoolchildren: “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” (1876), “The Adventures of Geklberry Finn” (1884), “Prince and the Beggar” (1881). “The Adventures of Geklberry Finn” is an adventure story about cheerful and smart friends of Geklberry Finn and Tom Soyer. The fearless Huck Finn goes on a trip to the Mississippi along with the Negro Jim, later Tom joins them. The heroes have to meet with the robbers, re -build a raft and rescue Jim from slavery. The book is included in the list of recommended literature for schoolchildren.
