Akathist to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker
In Rus', Nikolai-Chudorets from ancient times ranked first after the Mother of God among the saints in terms of the number of temples consecrated in honor of Him and written icons. His name was one of the most popular in the adoption of babies. Only in the Russian Orthodox Church did the tradition of committing a celebration of May 9 have survived (“the adoption of honest relics, sometimes in the holy father of our Nicholas the Wonderworker, from the world of the Lycian Grad”). Although this holiday in the charter is defined as “average with polylevus” (that is, without vigil), in the generally accepted practice of the Russian Orthodox Church, it is actually equal to the celebration on December 6, which is designated as “average with an adversity”. Before the revolution, both of these days-the so-called Nikolai-Zimoni and Nicholas-were "unprofitable", that is, public holidays. In many temples, the throne holidays were celebrated. Countless miracles marked the faith of the Russian people in the non -vocational and ambulance of the saint of God. And in our time, few of the saints are revered as Nikolai the Wonderworker.
