Bashlachev created the vast majority of his most famous works in just two years, having passed away in 27. If he hadn’t, much would have developed differently. The poet among the rockers, the rocker among poets, Alexander became one of the key defendants in the “case of the fate of Russian rock”, according to many, justifying the very fact of its existence. It seems that the tradition of an infinitely talented author, an inconspicuous wanderer is not from this world, devoid of his own dwelling, on the passions and vices, guided by the absolute system of aesthetic principles, underestimated during his life, already due to the scale of his gift, it is impossible to evaluate adequately and always existed. But whenever such a person appears in a particular part of the globe, the myth that “unhappy life... loves the poet to death” is overgrown with new details. The biography of Bashlachev with bewitching pedantry fits into this same archetype, and therefore I would like to talk about him not so much as the representative of the Golden Age of Russian Rock, as one of the most modern epic heroes.
