This book includes a number of selected works of the influential thinker of the 20th century K. R. Popper, dedicated to key philosophical problems that occupied it in different years of life.

The book consists of two parts. The second part, presented in this publication, contains thoughts about history and politics: questions about the world and the possibilities of war in our time, freedom, responsibility and meaning of history, democracy and open society are raised here.

The first part, which is simultaneously with the second in our publishing house, is concentrated around the issues of natural science: it gives the author’s arguments about the philosophy of science, the theory of knowledge, the boundaries of scientific knowledge, the problems of the interaction of biology, chemistry and physics.

For all the work collected in the publication, the clarity of thought and simplicity of presentation, always highly valued by the author, is characteristic. A selection of articles and the presentation of the material were determined by Popper himself and his closest colleagues in the last year of his life. Most of the texts are published in Russian for the first time.

This book is thus - a kind of philosophical testament of the author and the last missing link in the publication of his works in Russian. This is the best guide to Popper's philosophical system, compiled by him from the most pure, suffered over many years of life of ideas.
