Alphabetic truths. Petrov V.
Once, a very long time, Arkady Strugatsky called the author of this book one of the most promising young science fiction writers. But approximately then, Vladislav Petrov left science fiction to historical novelism and has since written more than one book. “Alphabetical Truths” are the most Russian of his novels and, perhaps, the most Russian novel written in the 21st century. Three and a half hundred years merge in it into a single stream, the fate of the heroes, fictional and uncomfortable, not necessarily Russians by blood, but Russians in the image of thoughts, who themselves did not notice how they had grown together with Russia into a single whole, are bizarre.
After the first publication of the author, they measured Pavich, and the “ABC truths” were called a genealogical novel, which is formally true, since we are talking about a chain of generations of the same kind, and the author, like this kind of link, appears in the last chapter of his own Persona. But, in fact, this is a novel about the meaning of the existence of our country - sober, devoid of kvass patriotism and at the same time full of love for the Fatherland.
