The Cards Cards Contracts (The Picture Exchange Communication System; abbreviated - PECS) was developed by Lori A. Frost and Andy Bondi for the rapid education of children with autism and concomitant developmental disorders of the targeted, independently initiated communication. The theoretical basis of the system combines the principles of applied behavior analysis, the idea of normal linguistic and speech development, as well as methodological developments in the field of additional and alternative communication.
The book presents detailed instructions for the application of the communication system by exchange cards. The leadership begins with the description of the Pyramid principle in training, on the basis of which all PECS classes have been developed. The description of each of the six stages of training in purposeful communication includes justification, learning steps, answers to frequently asked questions, useful tips and samples of tables for data recording. The authors dwell on how to introduce the program into the student’s daily life in any setting. In the vast application, diagnostic sheets and tables are placed to account for data, assessment of reinforcements and communication planning, which are conveniently copy and use in work.
