Valentin Dmitrievich Ivanov is known to readers primarily as the author of epoch -making historical novels, in which the nodal moments of the history of Ancient Rus' were reflected, which determined the course of its further development. Where did the Russian land come from? What is the historical mission of the Old Russian state and what was its formation? Varangians, Vikings and Nurmannes - who are they?
