Correspondence of Andrei Bely (1880-1934) with a philosopher, musicologist and cultural scientist Emily Karlovich Metner (1872-1936) belongs to the number of the most significant epistolary monuments characterizing the history of Russian symbolism during its flourishing. The letters of both correspondents with all the fullness and brightness reveal the originality of their creative individuals, the main philosophical and aesthetic ideas are traced that determine the essence of this cultural phenomenon. The correspondence addresses many significant facts that give an idea of the daily life of Russian writers at the beginning of the 20th century. The most important topic of correspondence is the history of the creation and functioning of the largest Moscow symbolist publishing house Musaget, which allows in detail to restore the chronicle of his inner life. Only individual letters of correspondents were previously published. In full, correspondence, accompanied by a detailed comment, is offered to the reader for the first time.
