The writer's glory of Andrei Georgievich Bitov (1937-2018) was never loud, but without his novels “Pushkin’s house”, “man in the landscape”, “flying monks” is difficult to imagine modern Russian literature. Bitov left us recently, and this book is, in fact, his first biography. Moreover, its author, a prose writer and documentary director Maxim Gureyev, builds his narrative as a scenario of a film incurred by a bat, in which quotes from the writer's works, memories of his contemporaries, drawing a lively and diverse portrait of a memorable master of the word.
