Prince Andrei Yuryevich Bogolyubsky is one of the most underestimated personalities in our history. The great -grandson of the Byzantine princess, the grandson of the Anglo -Saxon king, the son of the Polovtsian princess, he reimbursed about the unification of Rus' under his rule. Under him, the center of the country torn by the strife shifted to the northeast, and the Vladimir-Suzdal principality, the future of the core of the Russian state, became one of the strongest in Rus'. Having made his capital Vladimir, he launched construction here and in just a few years he turned the city into an opponent of wilting Kyiv. Justifying his nickname, the prince founded many temples and established one of the main Orthodox holidays - the cover of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This served as one of the reasons that the biography of Andrei Bogolyubsky, written by Nikolai Voronin, could not overcome the slingshots of Soviet censorship. The author was accused of Popovshchina, the set was scattered, but the imprint was preserved, which was the basis of the real publication.
