Annals. Story. Tacitus P.K.
Cornelius Tacitus (ser. 50s-c. 120) is one of the most famous historians of ancient Rome. The book includes two of its great historical labor: “Annals” and “History”. The Annals describe the events of 14–68. n. e., that is, from the moment of the death of Emperor Octavian Augustus to the end of the reign of the Juliev -Klavdiev dynasty. "History" initially covered the period from 69 to 96 n. e. - The time of the Civil War in ancient Rome (the so -called year of the four emperors), as well as the board of the Flavius dynasty. Both works have not reached us completely, which does not detract from their significance. Tacitus is deservedly recognized as the greatest of Roman historians due to its literary gift, a deep analysis of sources and the disclosure of the psychology of actors. His works gained wide fame in Europe in modern times and undoubtedly influenced the development of its historical and political thought.
