June 1957. In one of the states of the American South, a young black farmer Tucker Caliban unexpectedly kills his horse for everyone, sprinkles his fields with salt, burning the house and rushes to the north of the country with his wife and children. His act causes the mass outcome of the entire black population. Suddenly, because of one person, a whole world order collapses. The “other drummer”, first published in 1962, several decades after the publication, rises, as a unique triumph of satire and the spirit of the struggle.
