“My truth,” writes the author of the book by Polina Zherebtsova, “is the truth of a peaceful resident, observer, historian, journalist, man who, from the age of nine years old, recorded what was happening by watch and dates, the writer-documentalist.”

Polina Zherebtsova was born in 1985 in the city of Grozny and lived there for almost twenty years. In 1994, she began to keep diaries in which she recorded what was happening around. The diaries cover the childhood, adolescence and youth of Polina, which were Chechen wars. Study, first love, quarrels with parents - what is familiar to any teenager - coexisted with bombing, hunger, devastation and poverty.

since 2002, Polina Zherebtsova began to work as a journalist. Was admitted to the Union of Journalists of Russia, in the Finnish Pen-Club. Laureate of the International Prize named after Janusz Korczak in two nominations: for a military story and diary entries (2006). The finalist of the award of A. Sakharov "For journalism as an act" (2012). The author of five books about the Caucasus. Prose P. Zherebtsova is translated into 14 languages.
