Antique comedies. Aristophanes, Menander, Plavt, Terentius
Antique comedies are what will surprise and even make fun of the modern reader. Comediographers generously seasoned their plays with jokes, absurdity, scasteness, grotesque and buffoonery. All this became a weapon of criticism aimed at politicians, military leaders and speakers. With the seeming lightness of the form in comedies, serious questions could rise. So, in the play of Aristophanes “Lysistrata”, the heroine organizes a conspiracy among Athenian women - they will not fulfill their marital duties until their husbands finish fighting.
The collection contains the most significant comedies that influenced the work of William Shakespeare, Jean-Batista Moliere, Anton Pavlovich Chekhov and other lira servants. It is these plays that are included in the program of philological and theater universities.
The introductory article for the real publication wrote the associate professor of the Department of Foreign Literature of the Literary Institute named after A. M. Gorky Tatyana Borisovna Gvozdeva, candidate of historical sciences.
