Antiquity shop. Volume 1. Dickens Ch.
Nelly Trent, who was not fourteen, grew up in the antique shop of her grandfather. Young Nelli, surrounded by ancient and unusual things, feels like in a fairy tale, but a fairy tale comes an end when the shop is taken for debts-grandfather went bankrupt because of a painful passion for playing the maps and now, together with the granddaughter, was forced to wander along the roads of England. At first, it seems that Nelly is able to help both himself and his grandfather, but his craving for the game destroys all plans. New wanderings begin.
The novel “The Stroke of Antiquities” is one of the most touching works of the classic of English literature Charles Dickens (1812-1870), where the fairy tale confronts the harsh reality, and the price of the loss is incredibly high.
