The book “Apocalypse”, or “The Revelation of John the Theologian” is the most mysterious and complex part of the New Testament. This book consists of visions and prophecies, it is filled with monsters and disasters. Theologians, historians and philologists wrote many volumes with its interpretations and scientific comments. And art historians say that “Revelation” is unique in the fact that this is the only book of the Bible, in which each line is illustrated, or at least a paragraph.

This publication includes the full text of the Apocalypse according to the chapters with comments by art critic Sophia Baghdasarova, as well as about 300 works of world art created by artists of the III-XXI centuries of all nationalities and the main Christian faiths. And they really illustrated every paragraph of the Apocalypse.

The author says that it is depicted in these drawings, what mysterious and frightening details should be paid attention to, and what is hidden behind their riddles. Now one of the most mysterious and mystical books has become closer.

In 2020, the book was included in the Long list of the Enlightener Prize in the nomination "Humanities".
