Apostate. Meylahs P.A.

The book of Pavel Meylahs is an explosive mixture of different genres. The hero of his novel “The Prophet”, the head of the modern prophetic office “Antholorian”, from the very first lines demonstrates a merciless mind, bordering on cynicism. He quenches the thirst for society in “heroic” experiences “for free”, without serious sacrifices. “Filming in a socially acceptable way is the goal of almost any religion and philosophy,” says a professional Prophet, who talks with a dead brother on the same day, gets involved in a drunken fight, takes off his prostitute and at the same time does not tire of the hypocrisy of a humanistic culture. But “in his sermons, he manifests not the truth, but the pain” (V. Pustovaya).

The pain is the everyday bread of all the heroes of the author. But this is always a pain for some tall scolded dream. Pavel Meylahs prose is always high poetry.
