Aristocracy in Rus' of the X-XVI century. Pavlovsky I.
The book of Igor Pavlovsky is devoted to the emergence and formation of the Old Russian aristocracy. The author argues with such luminaries of domestic historical science as S. M. Soloviev, V. O. Klyuchevsky, S. B. Veselovsky, and, in fact, puts forward his own concept of the formation of power in Rus', while trying to clarify the issues of Russian history that before Still remain without clear answers. What was the role of a evening? What place in the state occupied the boyars? How far the prince’s power spread? Who started zemstvo reforms? Where to look for the origins of the oprichnina? Along the way, he concludes that Ivan the Terrible was no less Westerner than Peter I, and gives significant arguments on this score. The book is based on Russian legal documents, including little -known from foreign archives; foreign, primarily Scandinavian, sources; evidence of foreign travelers; works of folklore, etc.
