The work of the life of V. T. Shalamov is considered a cycle of stories and essays “Kolyma Stories”, which tells about the life of Soviet prisoners, consisting of six collections of stories and essays (“Kolyma Stories”, “Left Board”, “Artist of the Lopat”, “ Essays on the criminal world ”,“ The resurrection of larch ”and“ glove, or KR-2 ”). V.T. Shalamov insisted that whole works are precisely collections with the preservation of the order in which the stories are located. This book included the author’s collection “Artist of the Lopata”.
