Astronomy in images and numbers. Popova A.P.

This manual is an author’s elective course “Astronomy in images and numbers”, intended for students in grades 8–11 of educational institutions of the natural-mathematical profile. The course is based on the knowledge and skills obtained by students in the study of mathematics and physics using astronomical material.

The main task of the course is to show the possibility of interdisciplinary integration of astronomy, mathematics and physics. In the practical implementation of knowledge - to show the possibility of applying elementary information from mathematics and physics to describe celestial bodies and phenomena.

An extensive cognitive material, an analysis of various astrophysical phenomena, tasks for observations and the methodology of their conduct, as well as various types of tasks, for solving which elementary knowledge both in mathematics and physics are given; The path of expansion and deepening of this knowledge is shown. In addition, ready -made developments of non -standard classes and tasks are given - in the form of a game, quizzes, conferences, an astrophysical tournament, mathematical KVN, thematic crosswords to consolidate the studied information, tasks for independent observations and manufacturing visual aids for students' creative conferences.

This elective course is aimed, first of all, to the development of cognitive interest and to organize the independent practical activities of students.

The manual is addressed to teachers, students of pedagogical universities, and will also be useful to students to prepare for various kinds of olympiads in astronomy, physics and mathematics.
