The attention of readers is proposed the first book in Russia about archaeoastronomy, combining a serious scientific research and a popular science publication, in which the main provisions of this new interdisciplinary branch of knowledge are available and interestingly explained. The book was written by a professional astronomer, a candidate of physical and mathematical sciences V. A. Yurevich, who worked in South America for many years, where he was discovered and investigated several archaeo-autonomic monuments, which are discussed in the first part of the book. The second part provides information on the astronomical performances of the Indians of the Andian region of South America. Finally, the third part describes the archeoastronomic monuments of Mesoamerica, where astronomy has reached a very high level of development. The author puts forward and justifies several provisions explaining the features of the local calendar and some details of the preserved astronomical texts. In addition, a brief description of some monuments of North America is given.
