The collection includes the works of Alexei Maksimovich Gorky (1868–1936, the real name - Peshkov), the study of which is included in the compulsory school curriculum: the play “At the bottom”, the story “Childhood”, the poem “Song of the Bureauest” and “Song of about Sokole ”, the stories“ Makar Chudra ”and“ Old woman Izergil ”

In the play“ At the bottom ”(1901–1902), one of the central topics in Gorky’s work - the problem of“ former ”people - descended, broken and broken and lost their social status.

“Childhood” (1913) - an autobiographical story that tells about the life of Gorky in young years. The writer’s childhood was very difficult: his happy life with his parents ended after his father’s death, when he moved to live with a boring and cruel grandfather.

“Song of the Petrel” (1901) reflects revolutionary sentiments in society at the end of XIX - beginning of the XX century. In the poem, Gorky called on the working class to fight the autocracy.

“Makar Chudra” (1892) - the first print of the writer. This is a story about the dramatic love of two freedom -loving gypsies - Loiko and Radda, with whom pride prevented to find happiness.
