Bagration. Golubov S.
The outstanding commander, a student of Suvorov and the associate of Kutuzov, Pyotr Ivanovich Bagration (1769-1812) occupies a prominent place in the pantheon of Russian military glory. A participant in many campaigns and battles, he gained not only the respect of his contemporaries and love of soldiers and officers (they reinvented his surname into “God Rati”), but also a grateful memory of the descendants. He was distinguished by personal courage, the talent of a combat commander and contempt for intrigues, who often reigned in the military elite of that time. The historical novel by Sergey Golubov covers only a few months from the life of Bagration. But in these months he had to survive the beginning of the Patriotic War of 1812, the retreat of the Russian army with battles to Moscow and the surrender of the ancient capital. He did not live to the expulsion of the French from Russia: his life was interrupted by a mortal wound received in the Battle of Borodino.
