Baltic Slavs: the beginning of the collection. 1128-1278 Brechkevich M.V.

After the Germans captured land, on which the Baltic Slavs have long lived in the XII-XIII centuries. Intensive Christianization began, and with it the Germanization of the local indigenous population. In Slavic Pomerania, this complex and long process began with the appearance of monasteries, the formation of a layer of the personally dependent population, was accompanied by the rejection of lands in favor of monasteries, churches and the largest feudal lords, for which numerous subliles were sometimes committed. The study, first published in 1911, covers the period of 150 years from the adoption of Christianity to the end of the reign of Barnem I (1278).
