Barberry Tunberg Kobold is a spiky shrub that reaches a height and width of 50 cm. Shoots are short, light brown. The leaves are small, up to 1.5 cm, wide dark green shade. They form a spherical crown. By autumn, Kobold acquires purple shades.

Small flowers are red on the outside and yellow inside are collected in small brushes, appear in May. The fruits are pink or red, also small, formed in September and can hang until winter.
