“Baskerville Dog” (1901) is one of Arthur Conan Doyle's most famous novels about the unsurpassed detective Sherlock Holmes and his assistant Dr. Watson. This time they are investigating the mysterious death of Sir Charles Baserville, the owner of the Baserville Hall family estate, located near the Dartmur swamps of the Devonshire county. Dr. James Mortimer tells Holmes the family legend of his former patient: in 1742, Hugo Baskerville abducted a girl who tried to escape from him through the swamps on the first night. Hugo made a deal with the devil and set off in pursuit, but was killed by a monstrous dog, which has since been pursuing the Baskerville clan. Huge dog traces were found next to Sir Charles's body...
