Battle for the steppe. From failures to victories. Shigin V.V.
with the end of the latest Russian-Persian war of 1826-1828 in Transcaucasia and after the murder of our ambassador in Tehran A.S. Griboedov ended the period of military confrontation between Russia and Persia.
However, the real big game (geopolitical confrontation between Russia and England) was just unfolding, and all its main events were ahead. From now on, the grandmasters of the game with one and the other side were obvious that the steppes, deserts and mountains of Central Asia would become a new field of opposition to Russia and England.
Russia controlled the steppes around Orenburg, and the British only went to the foothills of the Gindukush. The confrontation passed into the stage of attacks, protection, positional maneuvering, combinations and victims.
