Battle of Borodino. History of the Russian version of events

Borodino battle - the heroic page of Russian history, the great battle of the Napoleonic era, a symbol of honor and courage. Borodino is the property of national culture, which turned into a legend, more solid than scientific constructions. The author studied the formation of a complex of knowledge about the battle, revealed a source base of historiographic constructions. Primary documentation was first studied for the first time. The picture of the battle, created on the basis of systemically verified historical sources, allows evidence that the decisions of the Russian command were more balanced and thoughtful, and the actions of the troops were more meaningful, professional and productive than presented in the Great Legend.
