Charlene Lager is sent to the Carlstad, in search of a missing nine -month -old girl. Parents of the baby are shocked and broken grief, and the local police only shrugs. All discovered evidence turns out to be dummies that only confuse cards in this mysterious business. The local press presses on the investigation, accusing detectives of inaction. The atmosphere is heating up, the life of the child is threatened, and Charlene has not a single clue. The investigation finally comes into a dead end, and every hour the hope that the girl is alive is fading away. The camp is sure: the residents of the town are hiding something and do not want to tell the whole truth about the missing child. But what riddles can lurk in the past of such a young creation?
