It is difficult to overestimate the meaning of the “beginnings” of Euclid for mathematics. Written around the 3rd century. BC. e. The work of ancient Greek mathematics for its more than two thousand -year existence has not lost significance and interest for both mathematics historians and mathematicians working on modern problems. The translation “Principles” presented in this publication was made by the famous Russian mathematician, historian of science, methodologist and teacher D. D. Morduhai-Boltovsky (1876-1952) and is considered many researchers the most accurate translation into Russian. This is the last in time the full academic publication of the labor of Euclid, equipped with detailed comments of the translator. It was attributed to Euclid. A separate book, also published in our publishing house, includes detailed comments by D. D. Morduhai-Boltovsky to “Principles”, the purpose of which is to facilitate the understanding of the text and inform the necessary historical and mathematical information. The publication will be useful both to specialists - mathematicians, physicists, science historians who want to work with the translation of “beginnings”, closest in meaning to the original text, and a wide range of readers who are interested in mathematics and its history.
