The collection includes the works of A. S. Pushkin: “Arap of Peter the Great”, “The Story of the late Ivan Petrovich Belkin”, “The Captain's Daughter”. Pushkin’s appeal to prose was a deliberate step, which was preceded by thoughts about the nature of verbal art. And it is possible that the interest of the first Russian poet in prose was based on a feeling of unprecedented seriousness of the tasks facing Russian literature.
