Josephine Tai (nast. Name - Elizabeth Macintosh; 1896–1952) - the famous writer, daughter of the Scotsman and Englishwoman, recognized master of the British detective. In 1929, she debuted with the book “Man from the line”, in which the inspector of Scotland-Jard Alan Grant, a real professional of the investigation, first appeared. However, in the novel “The Betty Kane Case” (1948), he got a second -plan role. Robert Blair had to deal with an amazing criminal story, the “peaceful village lawyer and gentleman”. Two decent ones in appearance ladies abducted the schoolgirl and forced to work for themselves, holding in their own lonely house. Everything testifies against them, but the ladies insist on their complete innocence. In the novel “Disappearance”, the inspector Grant unravels the circumstances of the disappearance of the American photographer, which was unexplored in the English province.
