In this publication, for the first time in Russia, images of 230 original drawings of Gustav Dorea are published in Russia. A talented French artist worked on them for two years, when preparations for the publication of the Bible, translated into German by the writer and rabbi Ludwig Filippuson. The Bible with illustrations Dore was first published in 1866, and engravings made from the drawings of the master were printed in it. This publication became so popular that in 1867 the original drawings of Gustav Dorea were published by a separate three -volume. It is they who, and not performed engravings, are reproduced in this publication.
