Biography of St. Mitrofan, First Bishop of Voronezh
St. Mitrofan is called an angel by the Guardian of the Voronezh land. It was he who, during the period of the Time of Troubles, when people lost their value attitudes, that the idea of true virtue was lost, helped people again gain faith in God, open and develop in themselves such primordially Christian qualities as mercy and compassion. Saint Mitrofan fought with folk superstitions, immorality, the influence of the Old Believers, instructing the flock in fidelity to the teachings of the Holy, Cathedral and Apostolic Church. His works were rewarded with a quick increase in the authority of the church.
This book is printed on the day of memory of the saint, for the 400th anniversary of his birth. It included: the biography of St. Mitrofan, the first bishop of Voronezh, compiled by the Archbishop, Master of Christmas-thermist Church, Dimitri Sambikin (Voronezh: in the type of G.M. Veselovsky, 1869); The spiritual testament of St. Mitrofan, Bishop of Voronezh, and an article on the veneration of the saints of the land of the Russian saint Mitrofan Voronezh.
