The main goal of the textbook is to give an idea of ​​the objects of biotechnology - the cell, its organelles, nucleic acids and microorganisms involved in biotechnological processes. The nodal areas of metabolism and the principles of its regulation are considered. It is shown how the biosynthesis of metabolites in prokaryotes and eukaryotes occurs. The issues of growth, reproduction and cultivation of microorganisms are discussed. The basics of microorganism genetics are given, the methods and elements of cellular and genetic engineering are given. The technical support of the biotechnological process with a description of the principles of action and the design of various types of bioreactors is partially affected. The issue of participation of biotechnology in the protection of the environment is also discussed.
