The family of poultry-sorges was called due to a large beak, sharply bent down, having large hollow outgrowths at the base. These birds are usually large, with a long tail. They live in Africa and Southeast Asia, on the islands of the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Most of the birds are forest. They nest in hollows. In all species, with the exception of the horned ravens, the female sits in the nest walled up, and the male feeds her, and then the whole brood through a narrow gap.
It is possible that this habits were developed in poultry birds to protect against numerous snakes living in the habitats of birds.
