prepared by the Laboratory for the Study of the Black Sea and Byzantium in the Middle Ages of the 11th volume of the periodical of the Black Sea region in the Middle Ages, continues the tradition of publishing new sources and materials on the history of Byzantium and other countries of the Black Sea region. It presents materials in both Russian and foreign languages. The central place in the book is occupied by the publication of the register of documents of the Trapezund Empire of the Austrian researcher Rudolf Stefets. The publication also includes the commented translations of the polemic messages of Pope Grigory the Great about the title of “Ecumenical” Patriarch of Constantinople, the analysis of archaeological data on the residence of Italian merchants in Azov (Golden Horde Azak), the publication of the Byzantine coins of the XIV century, found on the territory of Azov.
