This work is a collection of sayings of St. John Chrysostom about mercy taken from his many creations. The saint calls the virtue of mercy the “queen of virtues”, and his own life gives us a genuine ideal of active Christian love, which comes from the living and deepest faith. The very concept of "mercy" in the creations of the saint is multifaceted. Emphasizing that God is a source and an example of mercy for man, the Holy Father thoroughly and accessiblely explains how a particular person can fulfill the commandment of God in life.
