This film in a complex and interesting genre of animac (combining documentary and animated cinema) tells about the modern life of the Chukotka St. John's wort of the Chukotka or better to say in an organic connection with myths and legends of indigenous peoples. The relationship of people and whales, the animation of nature, the deep internal ties of the animal world and man became the topics of the film by Alexei Vakhrushev. Obviously, the film with the name “Book...” also demanded a book. And so the “Book of the Sea” was published, written by Alexei Vakhrushev and Mikhail Bronstein, an ethnographer, the chief researcher of the State Museum of the East. The result was a colorful, excellently illustrated album with photographs and drawings, also filled with valuable ethnographic information, a description of museum objects, ethnographic expeditions, an interesting story about the ancient original Chukchi and Eskimo culture and their modern media. The book was published in two Russian and English languages, but the text of the myth of a woman who gave birth to a kitenka is also reproduced in Chukchi and Eskimo languages.
