Bop. Gaia K.
Christian Gaia is a famous French writer. In his youth he became interested in jazz, tried to make a career as a saxophonist. Then he switched to psychoanalysis and even opened his office. He turned to literature in the 1980s and, from the very first publications, attracted the attention of an unusual manner of writing.
The author balances between the thought of the expressed and hidden, phrase completed and ragged, large plans and details. It cinematographically changes the angles, creating the jazz rhythm of the narrative and plunging into a slight absurdity.
Its texts seem sentimentally pristy, but piercing sadness is felt behind imaginary unpretentiousness. The main topics of stories are loneliness, a feeling of emptiness and impossible love. The leitmotif is the music that the characters compose, play, discuss, or just listen.
